We stopped for tea at this roadside shack in Sikkim. A youngster was lying on a table busy playing a game on a cell phone, when her mother called out to her. You can see the resulting tension in this photo: a part of her wants to respond to her mother, another part is glued to the game. This is a child’s everyday life. But isn’t this exactly what edge of the seat tension is about?

I travel on work. When that gets too tiring then I relax by travelling for holidays. The holidays are pretty hectic, so I need to unwind by getting back home. But that means work.

  7. The phones and the games on them certainly capture the attention of everybody using them! Especially this young, young child! It’s almost scarry! When the Apple stores were OPEN before COVID it was amazing seeing all the little ones in there that knew more about the phones and tablets than I did!

  9. What on earth did we do ourselves as children before the invention of smartphones and tablets? Our entertainment was much more outdoors, playing on the beach, on the hills and in the woods, making things, collecting things! How times change.

      1. I know what you mean, but I was still climbing mountains into my 60s and still travel and explore new countries and cultures regularly. Our early childhood conditions us for our future.
