Baked earth

The earth baked by the sun until it has cracked is a common sight in the middle of spring in India. It had rained heavily the previous night, but the dense mass of baked plates refused to let the water seep in. There are at least two months to go before the monsoon arrives. I wondered what the land would look like as we go forward into the summer: would the trees wilt, become shadows of what they are? I thought it would be interesting to show them only as shadows in this photo.

I travel on work. When that gets too tiring then I relax by travelling for holidays. The holidays are pretty hectic, so I need to unwind by getting back home. But that means work.

  1. The composition of this is very interesting. I had to look at it closely before I could figure out what it was. But we do have cracked earth like that in CA too. It’s just unusual to see it under the water. The reflection and the branches add a nice touch!
