The runt

Mountain dogs are combative and territorial. The adults are forever running up and down their hillside barking at the tribe on the next slope. Often they sport a torn ear or a bite acquired in a border skirmish. Near the Nurnang waterfalls in Arunachal Pradesh I saw some pups so new that they were barely able to walk. This one was the runt of the litter, but sported a tremendous scowl.

In early November the place was spectacularly cold although there was no snow on the ground. The dense fur coat on the pup must be absolutely essential now, a couple of months later.

Pups are mundane enough for Photrablogger’s challenge although I think the scowl is more epic than mundane. Wouldn’t you think that this is right for Cee’s "Out with the old" challenge as well? The silky coat makes this totally a subject for Narami’s Tuesdays of texture.

I travel on work. When that gets too tiring then I relax by travelling for holidays. The holidays are pretty hectic, so I need to unwind by getting back home. But that means work.

  1. Adorable Huggy bear !! Would you know if they turn white as they grow up? I have a dog that is I’m told a Tibetan Terrier who had very similar markings as a pup and is now all white!! (I posted something on him for last weeks challenge but it did not get picked up.) When I saw your post I wondered whether Mountain dog may be similar to the Tibetan ??
